What I like most about this book is its heart-felt  authenticity.  As a kid, and even an adult, I completely understand the  need to be accepted and loved by others but not feel that your gifts and  talents are sufficient.  This book reminds us that we are more than  enough, just as we are, and that there are good people out there, kids  and adults, who see us and accept us, as is.  I'm excited to share this  book with my younger cousins.

As  a pediatrician and avid reader, I am on the lookout for books to  recommend to parents to encourage them to read to their young children.  This is such a book. In addition to an inclusive, relatable story  (religious beliefs, financial means), the illustrations are beautiful. I  originally purchased a copy for my office library but decided to send  that copy to school with my patient to have it added to their classroom  library. I will definitely purchase another copy.

This  is a nice cute story about jameel  who's  family is on hard times  causing  jameel not to have money for store bought Valentines for his  class party. Jameel shows great ingenuity by making home made ones but  that doesn't stop him from being self conscious and embarrassed by it. I  really liked this because it is a  reality when ever we had class  parties and you could just see the dread on other kids faces when they  couldn't afford the same as others. The art was modern and smooth. The  text was easy to read and a good seize. Hope to see more from this  author. Would recommend

I  don't have a dislike. But I like that the book was very colorful and it  was interesting my kids enjoyed Jemeel's Valentines my three year old  wanted it to be read every night.

In  a time for a need for social/emotional learning, this book shares so  much more than just Valentines. It addresses POC, economically  challenged, religious aspects, single parenting, technology and just a  great lesson about caring. The author writes for kids and also adults.   This book would fit into any library:  church, school, home,  grandparents, Dr. office, anywhere.

Jameel’s  Valentine is an exceptional children's story about an African American  boy that everyone can relate to.  I suggest this book for any school age  child.  Dr. Middleton did a wonderful job of bringing Jameel and other  characters to life.  My children thoroughly enjoyed it and now have it  as part of their book collection as well as sharing with their school  libraries.
