  I love all of Dr. Middleton's books. The first book of his that I purchased  was "Jameel's Valentines" and now "Our Teacher is a Doctor". This book  really breaks down the differences between the type of doctors by  profession, which if you have ever been in a classroom is very important  for kids to learn and understand. This can be a great way for kids to  identify what they want to be when they get older as well. The  illustration is beautiful and lush. The story is extremely well written.  If you work with kids, have kids, or know someone with kids  I  encourage you to purchase this book because it is beautiful, amazing,  and very informative. 

 I  enjoyed reading the academic journey of a black man and his  accomplishments on the way. What a positive role model for young  children to become familiar with at an early age. The book reinforces  positive views of black males and presents alternate opportunities that  are attainable with the help of others and perseverance. I enjoyed the  artistic portrayal of a black male teacher and his students in the  classroom. Looking forward to the next book… Our Teacher travels outside  of the United States. 

 A  great read for my son and I.  He didn't realize you can be a doctor and  not in medicine.  I had a great time explaining it to him.  Once again  he saw himself in the characters. 

 The  message of the short story is clear no matter how long it takes as long  as you finish what you started. I think we can apply his example to  most things in life.
